The International College

AFNIC's International College falls within the scope of multilateral cooperation with developing countries. AFNIC has placed training in new information and communication technologies (NICT) at the heart of its strategy to promote the Internet's uses.

The training courses organised by the International College are public interest initiatives and are intended to be a public resource.

By drawing from its experience, the International College intends to widen the schemes it runs to transfer knowledge and expertise, in particular for the greater benefit of individuals from countries involved in co-development.

Its members and their representation on the AFNIC board of directors

To date, the International College has around thirty members from 17 countries, including 13 NICs (Network Information Centres). Four continents are currently represented: Africa, America, Europe and Oceania.

In addition to these local registers, both training organisations (universities) and service providers are also involved.

In accordance with the Articles of association, the representatives of the International College elect a representative to sit on AFNIC's Board of Directors, a decision-making body comprising 10 members. Mr. Abdoulaye Diakité, Institut Polytechnique, Conakry Univsersity, Guinea, has been the International College's representative since 2007.

Its annual meeting

The members of the International College meet for two days once a year, in Paris, ahead of AFNIC's general meeting. These meetings are used to take stock of the state of progress of the initiatives launched the previous year, and to discuss new projects, with an emphasis on the pooling of resources at regional (or continental) level.
