Maintain and renew your domain name
Registrant of a .fr or a .re domain name is entitled to use their domain name for one year.
To be maintained, a domain name must be renewed every year.
A .fr or a .re domain name is automatically renewed.
You are charged by your registrar for the renewal.
If you choose to not renew your domain name, your registrar send to AFNIC a request
to delete it. Once removed, it can be recreated on behalf on a new holder.
Anniversary date and Billing
Annual maintenance fees are to be paid to AFNIC by your registrar one year after the last paid transaction performed on your domain name.
Your registrar has one month from the anniversary date of the last management act to pay these renewal fees.
Example:
- creation or change of registrar: October, 12th 2005;
- anniversary date: October, 12th 2006;
- billing for renewal sent to the registrar: December, 1st 2006 covering October, 12th 2006 / October, 11th 2007.
