Delete a domain name

At any time, you may ask the removal of your domain name through your registrar. Your registrar will contact AFNIC to proceed to the operation (called: delete). AFNIC will ask no justification.
The removal is irreversible when the redemption period has elapsed .

The redemption period

The redemption period occurs when a domain name is deleted at a registrar's request. During this redemption period, the original domain registrant is allowed to retrieve the domain name from deletion (restore) by contacting their registrar.

The redemption period for .fr and .re domain names lasts 30 days.

When the redemption period has elapsed, removal is irreversible. Once deleted, the domain name can be registered by a new applicant.
